Glossary index

Modulation :Modulation consist of modifying a carrier to transmit information (example : music, voice, numerical data,...). Two basics modulation mode exists for radio broadcasting : Amplitude Modulation (AM) and Frequency modulation (FM). Amplitude modulation is more sensible to "parasites", but allow transmission on long range. Frequency modulation allow stereo transmission with a good quality, but range of transmission is often limited.

Mono : A monophonic audio signal had only one channell. In case of stereophonic radio, 2 channels are used and the sum of them (Right and Left) give the monophonic audio signal.

Multiplex :A stereo multiplex signal correspond to a mono signal associate with difference beetwen channels Left and Right (L-D), amplitude modulate with stereo subcarrier (38KHz) after suppress of this subcarrier, and completed by adding pilot-tone (19KHz)

M/S : Music/Speech : This function is used to transmit informations on current broadcasting : Music/speech (more informations)

MSB : Most Significant Bit : For a byte, is bit b7 and LSB is bit b0.
